Helping to Educate and Rebuild Cambodian communities

Here at CVCD we would like to express our many thanks and appreciation to the following, without whom it would not be possible to carry out the great things that we are able to achieve.

To all of our Volunteers, Staff, Contributors, Partners, donators and all that have helped CVCD to get this far, we extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciate all you have done for us since we began.

Volunteers at CVCD

Volunteerism is the underlying mission of CVCD. It is promoted in many facets of the organization aiming to involve and give opportunity for all to exchange experience, and knowledge without the expectation of receiving something in return.

Below are a list of organizations that provide volunteers for CVCD:

Volunteers in the Office

Several young Cambodians studying at CVCD have been given the opportunity to gain experience in office management. Volunteers have been working alongside our Accountant, English Director and Project Coordinator.

Australian Youth Ambassadors

The Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development program is a volunteer scheme placing young skilled Australians between the ages of 18-30 in positions in Government and Non-Government organizations in developing countries. The Youth Ambassador works alongside a counterpart for up to 12 months in order to transfer skills and develop capacity. CVCD has had two Youth Ambassadors over the last two years. Katherine McKeon worked from March 2003 for 6 months in Project Management and has since stayed on in a Technical Advisory role. Kate McMahon started in March 2004, and will work for 12 months in Environmental Education.

InterVol

InterVol is a student organization from Birmingham University in the UK. CVCD enjoyed the assistance of 10 InterVol volunteers over a period of 3 months. During their time in Phnom Penh, the group assisted in the development of a new community initiative - the Positive Paper recycling project. They also taught English and developed a student database. The InterVol volunteers have continued to support CVCD since returning to the UK through assisting seek sponsors for the child sponsorship program.

Global Youth Connect

This US based organization selects a group of young Americans to travel to Cambodia to learn about development. In 2004, the group spent 2 weeks studying the work of CVCD and provide recommendations to improve CVCD projects. CVCD will continue its relationship with Global Youth Connect in the future, giving more young Americans the chance to see a development organization at work.
